Do online and face-to-face language learning differ? The case of grit and flow by Michał B. Paradowski, Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw. We will investigate the non-trivial interactions among the antecedents of L2 grit and flow in online vs face-to-face contexts.
Are you sure you know what you’re doing? Beliefs and practices concerning English pronunciation learning and teaching by Ron Thomson, Brock University, Canada. In this presentation, I will begin by highlighting why I believe explicit pronunciation instruction is important, with particular attention to the Intelligibility Principle (Levis, 2018). I will then outline the extent to which teacher training programs prepare instructors to teach pronunciation, and underscore some risks associated with what I consider a piecemeal and largely remedial approach to professional development in this area.
